ARMOR

In Dominions of Darkness®, wearing armor can help give you the edge in any fight by absorbing damage or preventing you from getting hurt by adding bonus modifiers to Physical Defense (PD) scores. These mods are automatically calculated into your rolls when you "wear" the armor by loading it into your HUD and selecting it. This activates the item and the HUD auto calculates the applicable modification bonus into your Defense Rolls. Only one armor type may be selected and worn at one time, such as one helmet, or one suit of Body Armor.

Overall, wearing armor provides significant physical and psychological benefits for individuals in high-risk environments, contributing to enhanced safety, confidence, and operational effectiveness.

Like Weapons, pieces of Armor are color coded by level to make them easier to identify in your HUD.

Armor Available By Weapons Level

◎◎◎◎◎◎◎: Armor 1 - Basic Helmet

Description:

The Basic Helmet is a standard piece of protective gear designed for law enforcement officers in situations where the potential of public conflict may occur, or other high-risk scenarios. Its purpose is to shield the wearer's head from potential harm while still allowing for an completely unobstructed view. Typically constructed from durable, impact-resistant materials such as polycarbonate, fiberglass, or composite fibers, they are lightweight and designed to protect against blunt force trauma, projectiles, and other impacts.

◎◎◎◎◎◎: Armor 2 - Riot Helmet

Description:
Riot helmets are a critical piece of protective gear, primarily for law enforcement and security personnel, but also sometimes used by civilians in high-risk environments. They offer several benefits in situations involving protests, riots, or other civil unrest. While somewhat bullet resistant, the primary protection and safety features include covering the head, face and neck to protect against head injuries from impacts, thrown objects (like rocks and bottles), and projectiles. They often include neck guards for added protection.

◎◎◎◎◎: Armor 3 - Kevlar® Vest

Description:
A Kevlar vest, often referred to as a bullet-resistant vest, is a form of soft body armor designed to protect the wearer's torso from ballistic threats, primarily from handgun rounds. Kevlar, developed by DuPont™, is a high-strength synthetic fiber known for its remarkable tensile strength and lightweight nature. The vests are often encased in a nylon or polyester outer shell and can be worn overtly or covertly (under clothing), depending on the need.

It is important to note that Kevlar vests are typically designed to protect against handgun rounds and fragmentation. Higher levels of protection against rifle fire or other threats may require different equipment, such as a Riot or Combat Suit.

◎◎◎: Armor 5 - Riot Body Armor

Description:
Riot body armor, typically part of a larger non-ballistic riot gear ensemble, offers several key benefits, particularly for law enforcement, security personnel, and even civilians in high-risk environments. Riot armor significantly reduces the risk of injury from physical attacks and thrown objects like rocks, bottles, and blunt weapons. This includes protection from blunt force trauma.

The armor's padding and reinforced panels are designed to absorb and disperse the impact energy from blows or projectiles, reducing the severity of injuries like contusions and even preventing broken bones.

◎◎◎: Armor 6 - Combat Helmet

Description:
Military combat helmets offer a combination of protection, comfort, and integration with other equipment (IHPS). They are designed to protect against ballistic threats and blunt force trauma, while also allowing for the attachment of communication devices and other accessories. Modern helmets prioritize lighter materials and improved comfort for extended wear.

The standard Combat Helmet, while offering excellent Physical Defense protection as stand-alone armor, can be equipped with any of the following devices (purchased separately):

  1. Enhanced Night Vision
  2. Integrated Laser Targeting Eyepiece
  3. Thermal Vision
  4. Communication Systems (microphones and headsets)
  5. Flashlights
  6. Heads Up Display (HUD) for Visual Augmentation System
  7. Lights and Cameras
  8. Face Shields
  9. Maxillofacial Protective System
  10. Applique Armor Plate, for increased ballistic protection

◎◎◎: Armor 6 - Combat Body Armor

Description:
Military combat uniforms are designed to provide a balance of benefits and features to meet the demands of modern warfare, featuring enhanced concealment to blend into various natural landscapes like forests and deserts.

These high-tech combat uniforms allow you to carry an additional Melee Weapon or Firearm, and provide a crucial layer of defense against bullets and melee weapons with integrated ballistic inserts. Combat tactical uniforms are made with robust materials, such as ripstop fabric or Kevlar that can withstand harsh conditions and resist tears and abrasions. (Machine wash in warm or cold water and tumble dry on low. Do not Dry Clean.)

◎◎: Armor 7- Cyber Body Armor

Description:
Cybernetically enhanced military body armor incorporates exoskeleton technology, offering a wide range of benefits for soldiers and military operations. These advancements go beyond traditional ballistic protection to enhance soldiers' capabilities and safety.

In addition to enhanced physical defense protection, Cyber Body Armor increases the wearer's Physical Skill and Athletics and Reflexes. Soldiers can:

  • Lift and/or carry up to 400 lbs/182 kg
  • Move 50% faster
  • Gain 2 Attacks Per Turn

Lightweight and flexible designs, combined with advanced joint mechanisms, enable soldiers to move more quickly and effectively in diverse terrains and challenging conditions.

◎◎: Armor 7 - Cyber Helmet
